Theresa Foster - Seymour, TN
Theresa Foster has been teaching music professionally since 2010. She received her college education from Mansfield University in Pennsylvania and The University of Memphis, where she earned her bachelor’s in music education. She was the Assistant Band Director at Arlington High School for five years. Her students were successful in achieving numerous superior ratings at Concert Festival, Marching Band Competitions, and Solo and Ensemble events each year. Many of her students have made the Tennessee All West, Junior Upper East, and All State Honor Bands and Orchestras. Theresa's experience with regional auditions and participation as a flute adjudicator for chair placement at the TMEA All-State Bands has influenced her standards for achievement for all of her students.
After becoming a stay-at-home mom in the spring of 2015, Theresa started offering her service in the Memphis area as a woodwind specialist, adjudicator for local school band programs, and grew her private flute and piccolo studio to 18 students ranging from 2nd to 12th grade. In 2021, she moved to Kingsport, TN where she worked with the Robinson MS, Sevier MS, and Dobyns-Bennett HS flute sections and teaching private flute lessons. These students participated in local Solo and Ensemble Events, earning Excellent and Superior ratings; Regional Association Clinic Auditions, earning chair placement in the clinic bands; and End-of-Year Recitals to showcase what they have accomplished.
In 2023, Theresa and her family moved to Seymour, TN where she continues to teach a few students from the Memphis-area via FaceTime and is accepting new students in the local areas around Knoxville and Sevierville.
Theresa enjoys spending time with her family, whether that's at Dollywood, watching a movie on the couch, hiking, backyard ball games, or attending band events. Her husband, Daniel Foster is a band director at Pigeon Forge Intermediate and HS. They homeschool their five children (Melody Ann, James, John, Gloria Belle, and Symphony Rose, due in January '24), who are involved in gymnastics, ninja, and music lessons. They look forward to the day her family can play ensemble music together.

Megan Foster - Knoxville, TN
Originally from Kingsport, TN, Megan Foster began teaching private flute lessons in 2009. She attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she earned a dual-major in Music Education & Flute Performance. During this time, she taught flute sectionals at Bearden, Hardin Valley, and Dobyns-Bennett high school. After graduating, she moved to Dallas, TX, and worked in flute sales while maintaining a small private flute studio. In 2018, Megan returned to Knoxville as the First Year Coordinator for the University of Tennessee School of Music. She currently teaches private flute lessons and sectionals in the Knoxville area, as well as volunteer music lessons with the Joy of Music School. She also plays flute and piccolo in the Tennessee Wind Symphony. Upon the news that Megan was going to start building her own flute studio in Knoxville, Theresa invited her to be a part of Foster Flutes, as they are family with similar educational philosophies of flute pedagogy.
Megan lives in Knoxville with her husband Paul, who is the band director at Heritage High School, and their cat, Ella. She is passionate about band and flute, and loves helping students find the same passion for music.
"I'm so glad to have Megan as a sister-in-law, friend, and colleague; sharing music with our local communities." - Theresa Foster
